Cat Lady

I was watching the news last friday night (yes I was not out on the town, worked in the morning) and there was a segment on ch 5 about this old lady's house becoming unfit to live in. It appeared that she had 397 cats living in her house. Most of them were dead but about one hundred or so were still alive. I guess when the cat died she would put it in a garbage bag and leave it outside to rot. Aparently she let her son or daughter move in with her about three years ago and they brought about thirty cats with them. Since then the cats multipled beyond control. The thing that weirded me out the most was that she was a retired registered nurse. Knowing that wouldn't you assume that a dead cat is going to bring about disease?

I saw that too! (I never go out on the town anymore. :-)) It made me think of a story I heard about a year ago about someone who had over 100 dogs, in a barn I believe. I think that person was charged with animal cruelty due to the condition of the dogs. I tried Googling the story but couldn't find it...was the Cat Lady charged with animal cruelty too?

I would hope she would be charged. That is inhumane to have so many animals living in one house, not to mention rather disgusting. You'd think people would know better.

I'm not really too sure if she was charged, but I would have to imagine so.

hey meg, I didn't see the cat story
I think its really sick that she had that many cats living with her...and its even sicker that she put the one in the garbage bag to rot. It's weird to me too that she's a retired registered nurse...kinda makes you wonder about health care.

I read about that! I was at work on Saturday morning and we were just browzing the paper and someone happen to catch the headline! I used to be a cat lover, and i would joke about owning a house full of cats when i was older. Well that is highly unlikely for me anymore. Meg, you do bring up a good point about she being a retired nurse? it seems almost that she got sick of being healthy and careful? I don't know. I have four cats, and believe me THAT IS PLENTY!!

Another interesting story I heard about the other day, Tuesday I believe was about a 57 year old woman pregnant with twins. She did not look 57, but that is besides the point. I didn't think it was necessarily that big of deal, but they were coming up with ideas of having twins after a certain age is bad for you. I don't know if they meant just twins or babies in general. It was interesting when they said that the mother would be 75 years old when the kids are 18 and graduate! I guess putting it like that, makes the whole birth more interesting to me. Not to sound bad or anything, but I hope this lady will be blessed to have grandchildren.

Wow...there are some really strange stories out there huh? I heard the one about the cats..it sounded really awful, and I just felt so terrible for the poor animals...didn't the news say the faeces was like 1/2 a foot deep? YUCK...poor animals, to have to live like that...I do not feel sorry for the woman though because she is the one who chose to live like that...weeeiiirrrddddd...

so basically, i think that is absolutely SICK! to think of someone having that many cats, or that many of anything living is gross. talk about diseases, im sure there is plenty floating around her house. and oh the SMELL! ew, it probably smells like crap (literally) because with that many cats, its impossible to take care of all of them. so anyways, maybe there should be a law about how many pets you can have, or maybe how many are allowed to actually live in your house!

I think that its sick that she leaces her cats out in the street and just lets them rot. Uhhhhhh. Just amazingly gross and sickly. I have one cat, and she is 17. She makes so much hair mess, because she has arthritis. Poor cat ):

I saw it too. Its pretty creepy. Maybe she was senile or crazy or something. As anurse she should know better. I am surprised that she was able to live like that.
