Think about this statement....
"Terror...was not the source of opposition to the United States, but only one especially malignant expression of that opposition. Given the record of the previous decade...the pursuit of ever-greater openness was likely to encounter further resistance, if not from Islamic radicals, then from other states or movements or individuals persuaded (not without reason) that globalization "was just a shorthand for a new world dominated by Americans"1 and unhappy with that prospect."2
