I use to love reality shows, and still kinda do, but they seem to be losing the excitement and the hype is kind of dying down. Reality shows use to be something new and different from the ordinary evening sitcoms. They showed ordinary people doing extraordinary things (like be stranded on a deserted island, or doing crazy stunts) and it was fun. Now, Everything is getting redundant and "seen it!" But the point I'm trying to get at is that I don't think reality shows are realistically choosing people to be on the shows. I feel that reality shows are only looking for certain kinds of people to be on their shows and that also makes it boring. They look for people who are young, in good shape, argumentative, looking for sex, etc. Because they think that is all what people want to see, and it will boost their ratings. I know that doesn't apply for all reality shows (CBS), but majorly that's all I've been seing lately. Also, they almost always have only one non-white person in the show (which is unrealistic since all minorities together make up about half of the US population). Reality shows also rarely have people who are overweight or obese on their shows, which is also unrealistic since half of America is overweight or obese. I've just been noticing that lately and I feel that for reality shows to be realistic they need to realistically represent reality.
