This is a very sad article. Sherry Thompson, 15 years old, was at her boyfriend's house with some friends using a variety of drugs. They used marijuana, snorted a prozac tablet, experimented with ecstasy, crack cocaine, methadone and had some wine coolers. The next day Thompson was found dead. She died due to an overdose of methadone. Her boyfriend, Daniel Otto who is 16 years old, is now "being charged with third-degree murder because he did not intend to kill his girlfriend when he gave her the drug (methadone). He was also charged with second-degree manslaughter for negligence and creating a level of risk in causing Thompson." They say that Otto will probably be charged in juvenile court, but could be tried as an adult.
I do not really know what to say about this article. It is very sad. I cannot believe that these teenagers used that many drugs in one night. They have a serious drug problem. I only hope that the parents of these teenagers watch their children more carefully and get them the help that they need to stop using drugs.

I agree with Dianne very sad article. There was however many things working against everyone talked about from the beginning. Seriously at 15 doing crack, x, methadone? What more can be said. It is just hard to see a 16 year old kid getting charged with murder. Could both of teenagers have been saved with a little intervention on other peoples part?
Do you even get High off of Methadone?
I thought it just helped with the withdrawl.

This article is sad and unfortunate. It is apparent that there was a severe lack of supervision at this house. The mom has methadone that she just leaves around the house? That’s pretty messed up. If the mom is on methadone you know that the kid grew up with his mom high on heroin and other drugs. With that fact in mind it isn’t a hard stretch to think that he started using drugs himself early in his life. As far as his girlfriend goes I am sure this wasn’t the first time they dipped into mom’s methadone stash. I don’t know but I am sure that this girl was pretty small and if she took too much she would O.D. Most of the time what happens when people O.D. is they go to sleep and eventually stop breathing and die. I am sure her boyfriend didn’t think that she was going to die and thought that she would sleep it off. The sad thing is that not only did the 15 year old girl die but the courts will destroy the life of the 16 year old boy too. He will have a felony charge as his record that will not go away and I am sure he will meet some interesting people in juvy or prison that will lead him down a road of crime.
