February 2010 Archives

The Nike Speedsweep wrestling shoes are designed for rough workouts and championship finishes. Breathable mesh and split suede upper offers freedom of movement and durability. Die-cut EVA sockliner provides additional cushioning and the "Gum rubber" outsole provides decent traction.

These shoes are being phased out by Nike and are only available in youth sizes.  Available in sizes 3, 3.5, 4, 4.5, 5, 5.5, and 6.

Because of the phase out by Nike these shoes have found a nice market in the discount wrestling shoes department.  At the time of publishing, Eastbay had these shoes priced at $34.99 and are available in the Black/Black/White which is pictured to the right.

Nike Takedown - Mens - Black/Lake/White

The Nike Takedown wrestling shoe is designed for speed, power and control. Breathable mesh upper with reinforced stitching through the panels. Ankle strap helps keep laces locked in. Full-length double-lasted midsole provides low to the ground control. Rubber outsole with forefoot wraps gives traction at any angle. These shoes weigh in at 8.6 oz. (based on a size 9)

Purchase these shoes through Eastbay.com

Because most wrestling gear specific wrestling shoe providers do not carry the Nike brand, you must buy the Nike Takedown wrestling shoes through major sporting goods retailers like Eastbay.  Wrestling specific retailers like MatFish Wrestling don't carry Nike wrestling shoes because of higher purchase requirements for the brand.

The Nike Takedown wrestling shoes are a favorite among wrestling shoes enthusiasts. The Nike Takedown wrestling shoes feature synthetic upper with breathable mesh, ankle strap to keep laces locked in, fabric-lined with a lightly padded footbed for added comfort.

The shoes also include full-length EVA midsole for optimal ground control, a rubber outsole with forefoot wraps for advanced traction. These Nikes weigh in at around 9.00 oz for the size 9 and change by around 0.2 oz per size change.

Nike Wrestling Shoes are kind of a cult classic. Nike has never been a dominant figure in wrestling gear at the national level because of their restrictions on suppliers. As a result, Nike is carried by very few wrestling centric stores and show up more commonly at major chains like Dick's Sporting Goods and large shoe stores like Zappos.

Cejudo, the only United State Olympic Champion wrestler in the 2008 Beijing Summer games, also has the top selling new wrestling shoes for 2010. The Cejudo in Silver/White/Black is far and away the best selling shoe for Asics this winter followed by the Asics Rulon (which would have performed better if they had enough stock.)

They are priced around $75 on wrestling sites, but major sporting goods retailers charge upwards of $100.00.

Adidas Combat Speed III Review

| 0 TrackBacks

adidas combat speed III/3 wrestling shoesAdidas is bring back the most popular shoe they have ever made - The Combat Speed. These shoes, dating back to the late 1980's, have sold on auctions for $600.00 used. It's a safe bet that adidas would not risk the brand's name by using inferior materials so it's quite likely this will be another huge seller for adidas.

We haven't received word about a teal/blue color, but it's quite likely that we will see a second color. Adidas will likely test the market with the black/red version and if it sells well they'll plan on bringing on another color combination.
