A Minnesota State Trooper collided with a deer Sunday night on Highway 15 south of Hutchinson.

The collision was recorded on the camera mounted in the officer's squad car, reported the Hutchinson Leader.

The deer's head and antlers broke through the driver's side windshield as he jumped out from the left side of the road, reported the Star Tribune.

The officer had only minor injuries, reported the Star Tribune.

The Minnesota Department of Public Safety advised that bringing your vehicle to a controlled stop is safer than swerving to avoid deer, reported the Hutchinson Leader.

Deer related vehicle accidents tend to increase in October and November and Minnesota is ranked as one of the highest-risk states , reported the Star Tribune.
