The Minnesota Department of Health is investigating an outbreak of a food-borne illness by people who attend events at the Greysolon Ballroom Saturday in Duluth.

The health department said at least 40 people reported getting sick after eating at the events, reported the Star Tribune.

Doug Schultz of the department's communications office said they reported having stomach cramps and diarrhea, reported the Duluth News Tribune.

A total of about 350 people attended a wedding and a private party at the Greysolon Saturday, reported the Star Tribune.

The food was served by the company Greysolon Ballroom By Blackwoods, and they have been compliant with the investigation, reported the Duluth News Tribune.

A Salt Lake City man was charged with elder abuse Friday after his 74-year-old mother was found dead in a chair, where authorities say she may have been sitting for two weeks.

The charge filed to Bradley Myers, 51, is a felony punishable by up to 15 years in prison, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

Police found Geneil Larsen dead in the home that she shared with her son on April 5, reported the Star Tribune.

She was sitting in a chair covered with urine and feces when police found her and a path a garbage was blocking the bathroom, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

Myers said he had not seen his mother get up from the chair for a couple of weeks, reported the Star Tribune.

A medical examiner said Larson had a pressure ulcer above her buttocks, which exposed muscle and bone, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

An arrest warrant with a $10,000 bail was issued for Myers' arrest, reported the Salt Lake Tribune.

Woman lies down on I-94, dead

A woman was hit and killed Thursday morning after lying down on Interstate 94 in Minneapolis.

According to the the Minnesota State Patrol, the incident happened around 6:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes of I-94 and Broadway, reported Fox 9 News.

The woman's name has not yet been released, reported WCCO.

According to Lt. Eric Roeske of the State Patrol, the woman walked on the road and laid down before being hit by several cars, reported WCCO.

The right two lanes of I-94 were closed for two hours for investigation, reported Fox News 9.

The State Patrol believe the two cars that stuck the victim were a small car and a pickup truck, reported WCCO.

Minn. State Trooper jumps in lake to rescue woman

A Minn. State Trooper jumped in a lake near Alexandria Thursday afternoon to save a woman whose had a seizure and lost control of her car.

Sgt. Jesse Grabow was patrolling Interstate-94 near Alexandria when he witnessed the car topple into the lake, reported the Pioneer Press.

"It was like something out of a movie -- I couldn't believe my eyes," said Grabow in a story by Valley News.

He said the car shot about 10 feet into the air before leaping over the edge of the road, which was a 15-foot drop off, reported Valley News.

Grabow jumped in the lake as the car began to sink and he and another trooper that had fled to the scene brought the woman to safety reported the Pioneer Press.

The woman, 27, was from out of state and is expected to be ok.

Man broke into Oregon home to watch television

A man broke into a Portland home Sunday to watch television, police said.

Police said Jason Bastrom, 32, let himself in through the front door and sat on the couch to watch television, reported the Oregonian.

The homeowner called 9-1-1 and then called a family member who lived close-by, reported the Oregonian.

According to authorities, the family member confronted Bastrom and struck him in the head knocking him unconscious, reported the Huffington Post.

Authorities took him to the hospital when they arrived, reported the Huffington Post.

According to the Oregonian, Bastrom was charged with criminal trespass in the first degree and booked into the Multnomah County Jail.

A 5-year-old trying to track down her mother backed a car out of the driveway Monday, then called 911 for help, authorities said.

When Ameleah Kegly came home from school, she couldn't find her mother, reported FOX KSAZ. Worried that she could find her,Ameleah started up her mother's 1999 Lincoln Navigator and back out of the driveway, but stopped on the grass across the street, reported MSNBC.

She then called 911 to report the incident, reported MSNBC.

Amaleah's mother had been taken to the hospital earlier that day and said she called her father to pick her up, but he said he never recieved the call, reported FOX KSAZ.

Baby conceived during "sleep sex"

A couple conceived their 16-month old son, while one of the partners was asleep, reported the Huffington Post.

Ryan Harris, 28, has a rare medical condition called sexsomnia, in which you perform sexual acts in your sleep, but cannot remember them later, reported the Sun.

Dee Harris, 25, said that Ryan wakes her up for sex regularly, but doesn't fully gain consciousness himself, reported the Sun.

Dee said it was clear that she conceived Lincoln, their son, on a night when they had "sleep sex."

According to the Sun, the couple has been together for nine years.

A New Mexico woman is facing charges after she put an ad on craiglist looking to buy drugs, police said.

Anamicka Dave, 29, was arrested by police after they posed as sellers and arranged to meet up with her via text messages, reported the Miami Herald.

Roswell Police Sgt. Ty Sharpe said he was shocked that someone would put up an ad for marijuana online and thought it was a police sting, reported FOX DC.

Police met with Dave in a parking lot and arrested her, reported the Miami Herald.

It was unclear it she had an attorney, reported FOX DC.

A grocery store working pleaded guilty Thursday to handing out semen-tainted yogurt samples at an Albuquerque market.

Anthony Garcia, 32, pleaded guilty to charges of adulterating food and making false statements in a criminal investigation, reported the Chicago Sun Times.

Under terms of his plea agreement, Garcia admitted to tainted samples of yogurt with semen that he was handing out in January at Sunflower Market, reported MSNBC News.

Police said he was linked to the yogurt through DNA tests, reported the Chicago Sun Times.

Garcia faces up to three years of imprisonment followed by three years of supervised release, reported MSNBC News.

Teen boy playing with rifle kills friend in Chisago County

A 15-year-old boy was fatally shot at his home Thursday night by his 16-year-old friend who was playing with a rifle.

According to the Chisago County Sheriff's Department, William Showers was shot in the neck with a .22 caliber bullet, reported KSTP.

The 16-year-old called 911 and stayed at the house until police arrived. Showers was pronounced dead at the scene, reported KSTP.

According to the Sheriff's Office, the 16-year-old was questioned by authorities and released to his parents, reported by the Star Tribune.

The incident is still under investigation and the victim's name is expected to be released sometime on Friday.
