Second Hand Smokes, à la Gary Malmberg

Gary Malmberg is fine fellow who resides in Sacramento, California and makes his living in the estate pipe trade. "Estate Pipe" is a fancy term for a pipe that's on the used market rather than the retail market. An estate pipe can be brand new, unsmoked, and still in the never-opened box; what makes it an estate pipe is that it's pre-owned. Most estate pipes, however, are what you might call "pre-smoked."

Gary's webpage links to his eBay store as well as to some interesting information about pipes, including local information for the Sacramento-area pipe-smoking scene.

Introduction to Recreational Pipesmoking

Recreational pipesmoking is a rewarding pasttime for anyone who wants to relax with a good book, feet in sheepskin slippers propped up on an antique leather Ottoman, scotch and soda in a brandy snifter on the adjacent oak table, silk smoking jacket fulfilling its purpose, puffs of tobacco smoke flavoring the air with a redolence of musty tradition and grandfatherly associations, insults and frustrations of the busy day floating into the ventilation system.
