Misprint of the day

Wow. You can be on an Ekiden team that runs a marathon in 2:16:04, and your 4:06 1500m runner throws in a 19:30 5km. Inspiring how well the others run. Inspiring to know that Olympians have really, really bad days and run about 50 seconds a kilometer slower than expected.

Except that she ran 6km. Minor detail, minor detail ...

I thought about blogging about this too after reading his article this morning. 1) As you pointed out, Carrie ran 6K not 5K. 2) He said the U.S. was 2nd by 16 seconds, but a few paragraphs later he gives the times; 2:14:48 to 2:16:04. I guess those other 60 seconds don't count. 3) All "his" quotes came from other sources - he's just repeating them.

"Hopefully, somewhere among the following tidbits, you also will find good reason to head out the door and plunge into that next workout."

Yep. There were actually two reasons to put down that crappy writer's article and get as far away from it as possible.

You know, Crappy Writer, if you're not even going to try, don't bother. Stick with award winning (and probably accurate) reporting on walleye tournament ice fishing and the neighborhood pub darts championship. Leave the running alone.
