Edwards drops out

John Edwards dropped out of the presidential race Wednesday. The 12 minute speech in New Orleans marked the end of a year-long campaign. Though Edwards did not commit to another candidate he did reiterate the importance of alleviating poverty in America and that he believes either candidate will work toward that goal. Edwards had been mulling the decision over for weeks prior to the announcement reported the Washington Post.
While the Washington Post focused on the perspective from Edwards' campaign, the New York Times wrote of the opinion from other candidates. Senator Barack Obama commented that “At a time when our politics is too focused on who’s up and who’s down, he has consistently made us focus on who matters.? Both papers wrote a brief retrospective of the Edwards campaign.
