Yahoo and News Corp. meet

Yahoo began discussions with News Corp. Wednesday to discuss alternatives to a Microsoft takeover. Yahoo, the online giant, declined Microsoft's $42.1 billion offer.
The New York Times described the talks as a "long shot" as both parties have nothing to lose. News Corp. investigated merging with Yahoo last year also.
In the deal, News Corp. would trade ownership of MySpace for a 20% stake in the Yahoo Operation. It is more likely that these negotiations will cement a higher price in the Microsoft takeover, reported the Wall Street Journal.
