Jumbo Jigsaw puzzle
Fory my final project I wanted to try making large images on foam core. I really liked the way the foam core worked for blowing up images with the first project, but I felt like I just didn't get it right with the self portrait, so I wanted to try blowing up some more images. After sharing my idea I realized I had to do more than just blow them up, so after some brainstorming I thought it would be fun to turn the images into Jigsaw puzzles. Foam core seemed really ideal because it was thick and light wieght. I blew up the images the same way we did the self portraits. Then I found a jigsaw pattern, scanned it onto the computer, blew it up and printed out the pattern to use as stencils. I drew the patter on the back of the foam core and then spent a lot of time carefully cutting along the lines with an exacto knife. In the end I was pleased with everything except the torn edges, but I tried cutting the image and the foam core seperately and things just didn't fit together. What worked great with my method was that the pieces actually snapped together.
