Bioart

When my counselor suggested Bioart to me I thought "What exactly is that? Sounds interesting."  He told me about the Fluorescent Bunny but not in great detail.  So going into the class I had an idea of what it was.  I probably couldn't have really explained it though.  After exploring the topic, I think I have a better understanding.  Bioart bridges the gap between humans and other living forms.  It is the raw, scientific representation of biology as an art.  It allows room for interpretation and almost forces one to ponder the further implications of the strange artwork.  I realized that it is very broad and includes anything from manipulating a butterfly's wing pattern to creating a photo booth that uses light generated by bacteria.
The two fields just seem to go together because both scientists and artists are forced to be creative.  It is very interesting to see the outcome of this convergence.
