<b>Southeast Asian Ministry Prepares to Welcome Hmong Refugees from Thailand</b><br />
As you have seen in local news, Hmong refugees in Thailand will begin arriving in the United States in late summer. <a href="http://www.spas-elca.org/newsinfo/newsstories/seam.htm">Southeast Asian Ministry</a> (SeAM), a partnership ministry of the <a href="http://www.spas-elca.org/">St. Paul Area Synod</a>, is beginning preparations for their arrival. As a long-time supporter of SeAM, <a href="http://www.gloriadeistpaul.org">Gloria Dei</a> will assist with this ministry. <p>It is estimated that over 5,000 more Hmong will be coming to Minnesota in the upcoming months as the last refugee camp in Thailand is closing. Come to the Minnesota Humanities Commission to learn about Hmong history, culture, religion and language; the Hmong role in the Vietnam War, common misconceptions about the Hmong, Hmong contributions to Minnesota, along with updated information on Hmong resettlement. The program includes the film “Becoming American: Odyssey of a Hmong Refugee Family” and displays of Hmong literacy resources. Guest speakers include Txong Pao Lee and Mark Pfeifer of the Hmong Cultural Center.<br />
