LexLibris will no longer be published

Over the past several months, the Law Library has expanded the content of its website, as well as developed new avenues for communication to the Law School community and other constituencies. Therefore, to avoid unnecessary redundancies, we have decided to discontinue this blog. For the most current information regarding the Law Library, please see our website at http://library.law.umn.edu.

Thank you for your interest in the University of Minnesota Law Library.  I hope you will feel free to contact me if you have any questions or would like assistance (s-thor@umn.edu).

Suzanne Thorpe, Associate Director for Faculty Research and Instructional Services

Listen to Assigned Cases through AudioCaseFiles!

Law Students can download MP3 files of court opinions, including many that are cited and discussed in law school casebooks, through the Law Library's subscription to AudioCaseFiles. Search by case name or browse by subject or casebook.

UMN Law Students can register using their University of Minnesota email address at www.audiocasefiles.com/register/.

Need to send a fax?

During business hours, Monday - Friday, please use the fax machine provided in the CPDC office.

During evening and weekend hours, please inquire at the Reference Desk if a Reference Librarian is on duty.

Please Be Courteous!

Mobile phones should be used in the lobby of the Law Library or the Law School atrium outside the library.  We appreciate your cooperation and respect for fellow patrons using the library to study. mobilephone.png

Watch your valuables!

Around this time of year, there are a lot of thefts in campus libraries. If you notice suspicious activity in the library or are a victim of a theft, please report it immediately to the Law Library staff or to security monitors or call 911 to reach campus police.

Ask Us!

Make our day!  Ask us a question.

Our reference librarians are available every day to help you. We can point you to useful resources, show you how to use them, and help you find the information you need.

Drop by the reference office, call us, or send us an email to law-ref@umn.edu.  On weekday afternoons you can also IM us.  See the link on our homepage to "Chat Reference."

If you are beginning an in depth research project, please don't hesitate to set up a consultation with a reference librarian.  We'll probably save you a lot of time and frustration.

Contact information for reference librarians is available under "Library Directory" under "Quick Links" on the our homepage.

After-Hours Access

To access the Law Library after-hours, you need your UCard. If your UCard does not work on the Law Library card readers, please contact the staff at the circulation desk. We might need to re-code it to work on our system.

Lights Out?

If you notice any lights that are flickering or buzzing or burned out, PLEASE report them to the circulation desk in person or send an email to lawcirc@umn.edu

We'll place a service request to have them fixed.

Would you like a study carrel?

A few study carrels are still available to University of Minnesota Law Students.

If you are interested, please see the information available at:  http://local.law.umn.edu/uploads/images/6423/carrelpolicy.pdf.
