Ran 10 miles for a glass of orange juice
Tonight I ran from my apartment to Lunds, drank a small bottle of OJ, then ran home. At 13 degrees it was completely invigorating, plus I got to take the scenic route.
I am training for a 2-week hiking trip this summer, and winter in Minnesota tends to wipe me out physically, so this madness of running when it's 13 degrees outside is a straightforward way of turning back the slow onslaught of extra pounds and muscular atrophy. I was surprised to see a cross country ski trail set up in uptown, with outdoor speakers blaring bad 80s music and big crowds. I might try this run again tomorrow. The lack of good grocers in my neighborhood helps motivate me to run, and I've felt light-headed but also surprisingly clear-headed and relaxed all evening as a result of the exercise.
I'm really aching for a backpacking trip tonight, and might try an overnight on the Superior Hiking Trail a couple of weeks from now.
