A tornado tore through central Mississippi over the weekend killing 10 people, including three children.
The tornado was almost a mile wide and hit Mississippi counties Yazoo and Choctaw the worst reported CNN. It leveled churches, homes, and power lines.
Lousiana, Arkansas and Alabama were also hit by tornadoes reported the BBC. Meteorologists measured wind speeds at 150 miles per hour.
Help has been sent to Mississippi as 80 National Guard troops and 50 military police were deployed to Yazoo and Choctaw county reported CNN.
The death toll may still rise as debris continues to be cleared reported the BBC.
