boy found in casino parking lot

A Brooklyn Park man was taken into custody after he allegedly left his 4-year-old son in a vehicle at a casino parking lot.

Kang Choi, the father of the boy, apparently was inside Mystic Lake Casino gambling while his son was sitting in a vehicle in subzero temperatures, according to police. The boy was brought to security after a casino customer spotted the boy roaming the parking lot, police said. They boy was suffering from mild hypothermia and was brought St. Francis Regional Medical Center. He was later released.

The child is currently being held with Hennepin County child protection officials until he can be reunited with his mother. Choi was charged Friday with child endangerment, a gross misdemeanor, and with giving false statements to police, a misdemeanor. He remains in custody as he has been unable to meet his $8,000 bail.
