12-year-old Boy Scout missing

The search for a 12-year-old North Carolina Boy Scout continued Monday night.

Michael Auberry went missing from his camp site Saturday afternoon while on a camping trip with his Boy Scout troop in Doughton Park, North Carolina.

Auberry ate lunch with his troop Saturday afternoon and sometime after that his fellow Scouts and leaders noticed he was missing.

Saturday search teams found Auberry’s mess kit and some snack wrappers less than half a mile from the campsite, investigators said, but have had no new clues since then.

Investigators remain optimistic and are not suspecting foul play in this case. The weather is bearable and animals are not a threat in the area Auberry is missing, said park service ranger Tina White.

A missing persons report has been filed in case the boy has wandered out of the area.
