How much drug company $ do medical journals get?

At the Association of Health Care Journalists annual conference in Chapel Hill, NC this weekend, the editors of the Journal of the American Medical Association and of the New England Journal of Medicine were asked how much of their revenue comes from drug companies.

Catherine DeAngelis of JAMA said “Less than half…how much less I don’t know.”

Jeffrey Drazen of NEJM said “I make it my business not to know.”

Now that’s transparency.
