First Pete Wilson.
Then Jim Cummins.
All were colleagues in my first job in TV news at WTMJ Milwaukee 35 years ago. All are now gone, far too young.
Melodie was just two years older than me. A class act from the first time I met her. I had forgotten that she came from St. Paul, where I now live. And she was an alum of the University of Minnesota, where I now teach.
I have fond memories of that newsroom - the best career-launching platform a young man could hope for. But its standards were not matched by what I saw elsewhere later in my career - or today.
I have fond memories of these fine professional colleagues. Rest in peace.
