I had a patron complain that the cash-to-card machine would not allow him to buy a card to use the copy machine; it would not accept his money. I called the incident in to the UCard office so they will be looking into it. I just wanted to note that on the wiki page it says to call the UCard office and ask for Mary or Sarah BUT the woman I talked to has taken Sarah's position and her name is Paige and she said that there is no Mary who works in the office. So, in short, ask for Paige if you need to report any problems with the cash-to-card machine.

As some of you may be aware, the Gopher Gold system is moving on-line, meaning that money value will no longer be stored physically on a Gopher Gold or UCard. Instead, a user will have a Gopher Gold card that will be linked to a separate University account, reducing the added cost of losing a card (the user will only have to replace the card, not the money stored as well).
This change is to take effect in late July 2008, and current values stored physically on the card will not be recognized in machines by August 2008 (the remainder must be transferred to an online account by May 2009). See the Gopher Gold website for details.
One sign of this change is already apparent: University newcomers are being issued UCards that do not have the stripe for storing money value. Instead, they are being issued a separate Gopher Gold card that they must remember to bring to the Libraries.
The price for self-serve photocopying is as follows:
$.17 per page w/ U card or Gopher Gold Card
$.15 per page w/ copy card purchased w/ CUFS account number
