Framing-Inception

I chose the movie poster for the movie Inception. It is definitely one of my favorite movies because of the way it twists and turns your mind. I also think this is a good movie to watch clips of for example of all different types of framing. In the poster, it is showcasing the main characters of the film and also it is showing a small idea of what is to come in the movie. In the poster, it shows the buildings on the side but behind the characters it shows a city being flipped vertically. The interesting thing about this poster is that it has horizontal and vertical orientation because the lines of the city that are being flipped are going vertically, but the characters and the buildings are going horizontally because it is giving emphasis on the the people and the buildings.
The way the poster is set up to me is that the vertical lines are coming in and almost feels claustrophobic because the city is being caved in, but the the way the characters are spread out horizontally make me feel like there is a lot of space in the street. View image

This is a great concept of framing. The picture almost leaves you wanting more because it shows the characters but also what is to come, like you said. The horizontal and vertical lines make for a cool effect on this poster. It really makes everything stand out. Inception is a good movie to show not only framing but a ton of other aspects that we learned in 3201!

The choice of framing in this shot is so deliberate and indicative of the movie. The juxtaposition of vertical vs horizontal orientation is so stark and prevalent which is exactly how the movie operates. The disorientation of the world in a comprehensible way and keeping the main characters grounded and steadfast front and center highlights the main idea of the film, a battle between conceptual reality.

The framing of the poster highlights many key aspects of the movie. Not only does the position of the characters give an indication of the significance of each character, but also a glimpse of the roles that they portray. The buildings are framed in such a way to establish depth in every direction to accent the possible depth in every dimension in the movie, which could be physical or mental.
