A dictator Christ?

I came across this blog entry today on the Huffington Post:

While the overall vibe of this piece is too liberal for my taste--the "lamb of God" is first and foremost a Passover reference, for example--there's much here that I've been mulling over as of late. Some OT scholars talk about how a lot of the "Lord is king" talk in the Psalms was a way of reinforcing the Hebrew monarchy--that David is just so great. And, of course, working in an academic world where any claim to power and privelege is viewed with suspicion has caused more than a few thoughts about how such claims within my faith can be used to exclude or oppress. In any case, it's an interesting read.
