The agenda for the April 7th GPLLC committee meeting is as follows:
4:45 - 5:45 p.m. Meet in the ORL conference room
-Break into two focus groups (water and energy conservation and/or indoor environmental quality) to discuss LHB environmental/sustainability recommendations and priorities.
5:45 - 6:30 p.m The committee will meet as a whole to discuss ideas/decisions from focus groups.
Note: LHB has scheduled a tour/presentation at Solar Skies in Starbuck from 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. on April 7th . Please meet at the ORL conference room at 2:00 p.m. if you are interested in participating in the tour.
The attached file outlines the committee's responses to the proposed design of the Green Prairie Living and Learning Community. Please provide your comments to the design that was posted in the previous entries.

The attached file has updated images of both the exterior elevations and interior layout.
Based on the information provided by UMM community and committee members, and the campus forum, LHB Architects have produced three-dimensional drawings of what the exterior of the new green residence hall will look like, its placement among current campus buildings, and layouts of the interior spaces. Check it out!
(And yes, there will be windows.)

The attached file outlines three different wall construction styles - wood frame with fiberglass batt insulation, wood frame with expanding foam insulation, and insulated concrete form (ICF) construction. Information about building cost, embodied energy, insulative performance, and total energy consumption is included, along with the pros and cons of each.

Maureen from LHB Architects has updated the program statement for the green residence hall. This outlines the goals, budget, process, and schedule for the design and construction of the green residence hall. The file is attached.

My apologies for the long delay between entries. Four proposals for the layout and site placement of the new green residence hall are in the attached file. The committee agreed that the proposal 'A' is the most appropriate for the location.

The next meetings for the GPLLC committee will take place on Monday, January 14th, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and Thursday, January 31st, 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the ORL conference room.
Students in Vicki Graham’s class completed the “Describe this Place” and “Ideas for the Green Community” exercises. The main themes from their responses for the design of the GPLLC are in the attached file.

The open campus forum for design ideas and to meet the architects has been rescheduled for Thursday, December 13, from 6-9pm in Oyate Hall. Sandy promised GOOD refreshments, so take a break from study/research/t.v./napping and come in and share your thoughts!

The open campus forum and design session that was scheduled for tonight, Dec. 4 from 6-9pm has been postponed due to weather. As soon as a new date and time are agreed upon, I'll post it here. Until then, keep the helpful comments and ideas coming!
