This weeks definition: leadership to me is the process of guiding people with the understanding from everybody that the goal is to gain some type of knowledge, reward or accomplishment.
Why my definition did not change: Although the reading for this week was helpful, it did not help my overall definition of leadership. One thing I did take from this week is that leadership is a complex system (Boyatzis 2006). Also, ICT (Boyatzis, 2006) focuses on how to bring about and sustain change by identifying the gaps between the real self and the ideal self. I found this to be interesting and would like to go further into looking at the real self and the ideal self.
This comes 2 days late but I figured I needed to blog anyway to keep up with my ever changing leadership definition.

Leadership to me is the process of guiding people with the understanding from everybody involved that the goal is to gain some type of knowledge, reward, or accomplishment. This is my new definition because I haven't blogged in a few weeks and feel I need a new definition. From this weeks readings, I added the idea of groups and forming, storming, norming, and performing to my definition. It showed me that leadership is a group effort. You need input from non leaders to the leader so the leader knows what needs to be done.

This week's readings really put leadership into perspective. Ever since I took an ethics class last semester, I have thought about what ethical principles I use in my everyday life. I am a care-based person. I have always been about the golden rule.
My new definition is: leadership is the act of being a person who can think about the good of everybody involved. Leaders need to have ethics in mind when they make decisions.
The Kidder article really brought this into perspective.

This weeks readings, although they were intriguing, did not change my definition. They did help me in my own leadership journey but i still stick with my same definition. We will see changes in my leadership journey and how I can change as a leader.

This week, I did not really like the reading and it did not help change my definition of leadership. I wasn't quite sure what he was talking about and the video was not very helpful to me to help understand the reading. My definition is still the same as leadership has to do a lot with your ethics.
