The fellowship offers $4,000 to full-time graduate students in the College of Liberal Arts who are seeking a Ph.D. and are in the dissertation phase or post oral preliminary exam phase at the time of application. The dissertation subject must focus on European topics.

The Silha Fellowships and Research Assistantships

The Silha Fellowships and Research Assistantships based at the University of Minnesota School of Journalism and Mass Communication provide outstanding law and graduate students with the opportunity to assist with a variety of Silha Center projects. Law and graduate students have helped to draft comments on proposed regulations and rules before federal and state courts and administrative agencies, as well as to prepare amicus briefs, including before the U.S. Supreme Court. We are looking for an expert whose scholarship addresses the use of innovative communication technologies and whose creative capabilities include designing, developing and building new media.
