Geodesic Domes
Find a series of images (individual or part of a series) that somehow connect design to mathematics. comment
After, no more then say 10 minutes ago realising that, NO, I had not done my blog and, YES, class is tomorrow I scrambled to think of something that connects a really cool thing, Design to something not cool at all, Math.

As I thought, I realised as I normally do, that math is totally unavoidable when it comes to the "real" world and that architecture is full of it. I guess it was there all along and I was just avoiding the fact. I though back to my math classes and remember about Geodesic Domes and how there's math in them.

Now you may think just glancing at it, damn, that's cool it's a round house, but on closer looks you'll come to realize that that house although it looks nice and round is made up of a few Geodesic Domes plopped together, that my friends is math with out even thinking.
As I think about the traveling I've done around the US, I realise I've seen Geodesic Domes in lot's of places and they registered in my brain with out my realization. for instance when I was out in Orgon I was on a bus during along a county highway and there sitting next to the road was a Geodesic Dome house that looked something like this.

Another place I've seen Geodesic Domes used in architecture is "the middle of nowhere" Illinois the Illinois department of transportation buildings are all Geodesic Domes.
