Jan. 29 - Plan to attend the 2010 Minnesota Newspaper Association Convention

The MNA Convention provides you with an opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals at the Sheraton Hotel South in Bloomington, MN. The student registration fee is $20 and allows you to attend sessions on Thursday and Friday.

The MNA Convention provides you with an opportunity to meet and network with industry professionals at the Sheraton Hotel South in Bloomington, MN. The student registration fee is $20 and allows you to attend sessions on Thursday and Friday.

Event highlights include:

• Friday morning program featuring a discussion of paid versus free content, creating a video TV show for your newspaper's Web site, how to be the best at advertising sales, new tips for Creative Suite, and attorney Mark Anfinson will present a legal update on media law.
• The luncheon speaker on Friday is Dan Buettner, world-renowned explorer and National Geographic writer. He will share his research on "Blue Zones: Secrets of a Long Life." During 2009, Dan led a successful project in Albert Lea, MN, to implement community and social changes that improve quality of life and added an average of at least two years to life expectancy to each resident's life.

The SJMC will pay the registration fee for the first five students who submit their registration materials to Maggie Cosgrove in room 110 Murphy Hall by Friday, January 15 at 4 p.m. Download and complete the student registration form, and submit this to Maggie along with a check for $20, payable to the University of Minnesota. After attending and providing proof of attendance your check will be returned to you. We will cash the checks for students who cannot demonstrate proof of attendance.
