New course: Learn about the economic realities of 21st century media
If you've ever wanted to lead a news organization, write about media or sell advertising, JOUR 4990 is the class for you. This class is appropriate for both journalism and strategic communication students.
Taught by former Star Tribune publisher J. Keith Moyer, students will get detailed insights into the business side of media industries including print and online newspapers, magazines and television.
This is your chance to learn about the challenges of the new economic environment and how they affect the industry. The course will feature trips to advertising agencies, magazines, newspapers, and television and radio stations. The course could be of particular interest to students who took JOUR 3551, 4193, 4263, 4272, 4992 or 5725.
Prerequisites: JOUR major or approved IDIM major or ICP major or BIS major, plus JOUR 3004 AND JOUR 3101, 3201 or 3202
