U professor to discuss unrest in Egypt Tuesday
The University of Minnesota's Institute for Advanced Study will hold a seminar Tuesday night on Youth Movements and Revolution in Egypt with Humphrey Institute Professor Ragui Assaad.
Following the ouster of Tunisia's President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali Jan. 14 after nearly a month of street protests, world attention has turned to Egypt. Reformers from across Egypt's political spectrum have been calling for an end to almost three decades of rule by President Hosni Mubarak.
Assaad will speak to the University of Minnesota community about the situation and the recent history of dissent in Egypt followed by a question and answer session.
The talk will take place at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Nolte Center for Continuing Education, 315 Pillsbury Drive S.E., Minneapolis. For more information, go to http://www.ias.umn.edu.
