Career Week Workshops for Graduate and Professional Students
The University of Minnesota Graduate Career Development Network is pleased
to present three workshops as part of Career Week. Each with a different focus in the job searching process and a separate registration link.
Workshop One- Identifying Job Options and Conducting a Search in a Tough Economy
The workshop will cover the job search process from start to offer. It will
address conducting a self-assessment, planning, knowing your options,
relationship-building, and offer negotiations. There will be break-out
sessions for the academic and non-academic search.

This presentation will cover the difference between the CV and resume;
essential components, what employers seek, and competitively packaging your

Workshop Three- Effective Interviewing for Academia and Industry
This workshop is for graduate students/postdocs who will be interviewing
for faculty positions or in industry or private organizations. The
presentation will cover pre-interview preparation, making a great first
impression, effective responses to typical interview questions, questions to
ask of the interviewer, and memorable closure. Career counselors and staff
will be available for practice interviews.
