Associate professor Mark Pedelty has produced a new film, "A Neighborhood of Raingardens," that will premiere Friday Sept. 9 at 7 p.m. at the Saint Anthony Main Theater.
The film explores what residents are going to do about Minnesota's impaired lakes, rivers, and watersheds? Hundreds of Powderhorn residents got together with Metro Blooms to install over one hundred raingardens, and that was just the beginning! Theirs is a bold attempt to clean up Powderhorn Lake, one yard at a time. Is it working? The film follows "A Neighborhood of Raingardens" from inception to fruition, illustrating the promises and problems of this exciting new citizen-centered approach to watershed management. "A Neighborhood of Raingardens" could change the way we think about our water, our homes, and our neighborhoods.
The presentation is sponsored by The Film Society of Minneapolis/Saint Paul. Tickets are $8.50 at the door, $6 for seniors and students and $5 for Film Society Members.
