Scott Meyer (B.A., '04) has been named the interim president and CEO of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association, beginning October 1.

SJMC graduate students have a new face to go to for assistance. In August 2012, Angie Rehn began her new role as graduate student personnel coordinator. In this role, she assists graduate students, assists the director of graduate studies and helps coordinate graduate affairs.
In its September 11, 2012 meeting, the University of Minnesota School of Journalism & Mass Communication Alumni Society Board welcomes two new members: Matt Burgess (B.A., 2000), creative director at Olson and Victoria Hoshal (B.A., 1982) of d.trio marketing group.
In fall 2012, the students enrolled in Jour 4259: Strategic Communication Case Analysis will partner with Creative University, a program of FOX Sports. The University of Minnesota is one of 15 schools around the country participating in the program.
SJMC adjunct faculty member Elizabeth Larsen, along with Joshua Glenn, has published "Unbored: The Essential Guide to Serious Fun," available October 2012.
This fall semester, SJMC Associate Professor Dona Schwartz will have her award-winning exhibit In the Kitchen displayed on the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus. Opening September 25, the exhibit will run through fall semester and will close in mid-December.
On Friday, September 28, 2012, SJMC hosts "Careers in Data Journalism," an event which will allow students to explore careers available at the intersection of technology and journalism. The panel discussion will allow students to learn about careers and what action steps are needed to move an interest in data journalism to the next step.
