I currently live in expanded housing at Sanford Hall. This year the U even had to put 200 students in hotel rooms over at the Days Inn. Atleast I didn't get put over there. Whenever enough room opens up, I will be kicked out of my dorm room and shipped somewhere else....hopefully not Bailey Hall over in St. Paul.
I don't even really live in a dorm room, I actually live in a floor LOUNGE with three other girls. Its basically a box with two bunk beds in it, one table, one fridge, and one desk... oh and no TV. I thought I'd be happier than anything when the day came that I could get out of that box and actually have some of my own space, like somewhere to put my computer. Yet now I really love living there and I don't want to leave the lounge for the life of me. My roomates are awesome ( well two of them ) and I don't want to have to relocate myself and get used to another setting. Besides, the dorm food over at Sanford is better than any other dorm - so I hear, I haven't actually gotten around to eating at any other dorm halls yet.
I'm guessing that next semester I'll get moved even though they still have 30 girls over at the Days Inn and 200 girls total in expanded housing. However, so many students are moving out after first semester, either transfering, joining a frat or sorority, or just hate living in the dorms that I'm sure there will be space for us to move into.
Hopefully I can stay in the lounge for longer. Cross your fingers.
This blog is for reflections on the stresses and benefits of living in the dorms that have helped shape your college life. It is for all college students who currently live in the dorms or have at one point.
