BCS Bowl Series Set

The BCS college football bowl games of this January have been decided.

According to the USA Today, Ohio St. will be playing LSU for the national championship game on January 7, 2007, in New Orleans. This is the third time that Ohio St. has been in the national championship since the BCS originated in 1998, it also marks LSU's second trip to the big game.

Besides the national championship game, the other BCS bowl games have also been set. The Rose Bowl will feature Illinois and USC, the Sugar Bowl will be Hawaii against Georgia, the Fiesta bowl will be between Oklahoma and West Birginia, and the Orange bowl will be between Virginia Tech and Kansas.

Many of the games were up in the air before Sunday, as the college football rankings have been changing almost all year long. Both LSU and Ohio State had seen time at the number one spot at different points in the year, but neither of them were at that spot when the year came to a close.

According to ESPN, LSU seems to be the favorite as no other team has won the national championship after losing two games during the regular season, such as Ohio St. has done this year. There were also a number of top rated teams that were left out of the Bowl Championship Series, including Missouri, Arizona State and Florida.
