The list of "being poor" should be required reading for human being citizenship. According to my mom we qualified for about three years when I was a kid. My folks hid it well from us, but some of that list was familiar. Great link.

I'll chip in on the insurance article.

Note how the Bush Administration report on health insurance neatly blames the uninsured for their lack of coverage. Blaming the victim is morally repugnant, but it sure gets votes from the crowd that thinks that the poor deserve to be poor, and the rich deserve to be so, and remain so.
