Question: How many MN Governors have been in office since the Twins moved unwillingly into the Dome and have been trying to get out every since? Can't blame this one solely on T-Paw.
I'm not even defending him, all I'm saying is how many times has this issue arisen over the last 20-years and has gone no where!?!?! The report card:
Tim Pawlenty: Incomplete
Jesse Ventura: D+; Offered a financing plan which envisioned a limited role for the state's contribution, but the version approved in committee only gave a host community the option of raising local taxes to help fund the project. Jesse politics at his best.He was just tossing over a life ring with no rope attached. The Twins stayed afloat but had no way to reach shore.
Arne H. Carlson: B+; Really made a run for it in 1997 but it was waylaid by partisan bickering in the October Special Session. And because Pohlad & MLB started playing mindgames. I think that's when the franchise contracted (no pun intended) cancer and has been slowly dying since.
Rudy Perpich: F-; it was Rudy who moved to erect a multi-purpose covered facility on the eastern edge of downtown Minneapolis, which became the Dome. Tbis is the guy you should be loathing!

No sports week indeed. Unless you mean no sports left in Minnesota week. :)

Yes, "No Sports Week" didn't last long. Well, I may have gotten it out of my system. We'll see what the news brings tomorrow.

Time to get MN Swarm tickets!

Come on, Brian. Hennepin County has a plan in place with no state money. The governor should either twist arms within his own party to get this done or state that the plan is no good. He's done neither. This is typical of this governor. When does he lead on anything? The only people he pleases are those people at the Minnesota Taxpayers League, who won't be happy until there is no state tax, no government services, and correspondingly, no quality of life.
Grade on T-Paw: F

SBG: I only give T-Paw an incomplete as his run is not over yet. Yes, he deserves an F currently for not getting the Idiots to regather. But that is subject to change so he has the opportunity to improve before class is out.

It is too bad all the greet machiners can not somehow get together in a lottery pool for the big powerball drawing. I'm sure that we all would put a good chunk of change towards a new ballpark. Just think, Greet Machine Grounds! I just heard Soucheray saying he would build his own ballpark if he hit the numbers. It might be better odds winning the lottery than the Twins getting a ballpark right now.

Jim: Yeah The Mayor (Soucheray) was hilarious about that today. I've loved the bit where he spoke to having his own apartment in center field. He would then "make appearances" with a walking stick and knock young ruffians on the knees if they were A) swearing B) had their ball cap turned around backwards (Gawd how I hate that myself) or C) misbehaving. If they would not comply then Soucheray would have them evicted because "I built this 'house', it is my 'house' and you abide by the rules in my 'house' or my security tosses you!

Just saw tomorrow's edition of the Strib online. Krinkie has an editorial letter to make one puke. Why does Shoreview continue to elect this clown??? If all decisions were up to him, we wouldn't even have paved roads in Minnesota unless they were privately funded.

So Gollum is for building a stadium on public park land for DeLaSalle but not on privately owned land for the Twins? Lets chop up half of nicollet island's parkland so a highschool team can play 10 games there, but fight tooth and nail against the Twins stadium. Good grief.

Thanks for the comments everyone and sorry for my silence yesterday. Every time I went to write something I was interrupted with something else. Curses on this thing called "work"!
I love the idea of Greet Machine Grounds! We should have a little pool going if the Powerball ever gets that high again. And believe me, the stadium would be a "Krinkie free zone." My security would be advised to use "excessive force" if he ever dared show his face.
