Real men Wii standing up
Last Sunday my older son and I camped out in front of Target in order to get the Nintendo Wii. We got out there at about 5:40 in the morning and we were 11th in line. All together waited 2 1/2 hours in 10 degree weather (and it snowed) in order to buy a video game system. Was it worth it? Every penny. The Wii is a blast.
I whipped up the following video this afternoon and while it isn't my best work it does illustrate the fun we are having playing the two games we have: Wii Sports and the Legend of Zelda. I think what you'll notice is how our movements using the Wii Remote and Nunchuck usually mimic real life, whether it is throwing a bowling ball, throwing a punch, swinging a baseball bat, or using a sling shot. That is half the fun of playing, truth be told.
Anyway, enjoy the video. Of course, it uses the obligatory "Eye of the Tiger" as its soundtrack, and my wife says the ending is the best (if you can make it that far). On with the show!

This video should be required viewing for all Sony executives who are wondering why the Wii is more popular than the PS3. (Hint: Video games are supposed to be fun, not maddeningly frustrating.)
And yes, I made it to the ending, and I laughed so hard tears came to my eyes.

Jon, thanks for your kind words! Yes, I admit that I am a Nintendo fanboy (I have only ever bought Nintendo systems) but I honestly think they are in it for more than just money. They make quality gaming systems that are very family friendly. Plus, with the Wii I downloaded Super Mario Bros. For once, my kids are amazed at how good I am at a video game!
Glad you liked the ending. The Wii has also caused a lot of spontaneous gloating, that is for sure ...

Methinks I need to come over and check this out. We may have found a new Backyard Border Battle event or six.
Nintendo Wii - $300
Time in line to get it - 2.5 hrs
Kicking your son down - priceless :)

So, basically, the baseball segment is a reenactment of the MLB playoffs, with your son playing the part of the Minnesota Twins.

Any new info on the land sale?

Let me get things straight. Has an agreement been made that the county will pay the $13.5 million and have the authorization to begin construction, with the understanding that they could owe the landowners more based on the results of the condemnation hearing?

Wii sports completely rocks. To prevent long Morneau-esque home runs by Shane, the pitcher should try a side arm delivery. I was unhittable when I tried that strategy. And second only to kicking your son is beating your wife in Wii boxing. My wife was no match for my jab/haymaker combination!

They should make some sort of foot attachment or "boot" controller for the Wii, so when you kick your child down, your on-screen character does the same...

Isn't that the kid who had the broken arm...
What's CPS' phone number? Is that programmed into the Wii?
This surely is the pinnacle of virtual reality. Of course we once thought that about Pong.

I wish our Brewer sluggers would have home run celebrations like yours more often. I daresay Richie Sexson was the only one I can imagine kicking some ass in the dugout, and we shipped him off to parts unknown before he messed up his knee doing just that!
