Reflections of a Final Project

This project is a 12" tall by 12' long project which documents the area of the Lake Ave. and Superior St. crossing. I worked with two other people (Dayna Hannenburg and Courtney Ziemann). We wanted to create a project that really expressed the feelings and texture about this part of the city...

Green Man Festival

I was working with the Green Man Festival group for my client work project. The project was a promotional campaign for the Green Man Festival. For my project specifically, I wanted to focus most on the poster, because that is what is going to get the people to notice the show and come to it.

Green Article

In the last issue of relix magazine I found an interesting article on living green. For those of you who dont know, Relix is a music magazine which focuses more on blues, jazz, and jam band culture, as apposed to more pop culture. I believe it was the March issue which has an article which gives 50 ways of living more green. Some ways are very simple and easy for anyone to do, such as: turning off lights when you're not home to using real silver wear at home or camping instead of using paper and plastic utensils. Other ways are a little more difficult for some of us, like buying a hybrid car. I dont think you can read about the article online, but for more information on the magazine, you can head to www.relix.com

Part 1: Ethical Design Education

For my first entry from the Citizen Designer book, I decided to read "Ethical Design Education: Confessions of a Sixties Idealist" by Susan S. Szenasy. The article was very informative about green design and why it is an important aspect of a designer's work. I feel this is extremely relative to what we have been and continue to talk about in class.

First Things First

I felt this manifesto was and still is a very important one. I believe that many designers feel that the only way to be a good designer is to work for a big company and make tons of money. Although many of the designers for huge companies are very successful, I don’t believe that’s necessarily the only thing that makes a good designer. We have to get back to design and art, which can benefit society.
