The Sociology Research Institute Committee invites nominations for the 2012 Public Sociology Award, open to individuals, organizations or groups that are: 1) involved in community organizing, advocacy work, or social services with a sociological perspective; and/or 2) conducting research or teaching that informs public debates and involves broader publics. The award(s) will be presented at SRI, Fri. April 20. Nomination letters should include: 1) description of the public sociology work; 2) nominee(s) title; 3) nominee(s) relationship to the Department; and 4) contact information for nominator and the nominee. Self-nominations are welcome. For Graduate Students, nominations for the Engaged Scholarship Award, honoring student contributions, is also to be included in the general SRI Call for Papers and Award Nominations, which is forthcoming.
