Tomorrow Fri. June 1, the Sociology Department Main Office, 909 Soc Sci Bldg, will temporarily relocate to 1114-1183 Soc Sci, for renovations. The 909 Soc Sci copier and 915 Soc Sci conference room will not be available. Mailboxes move to 1114 Soc Sci. Telephone numbers will remain the same. Operations will be minimal.
Two of the three Social Sciences Building elevators are out of use indefinitely for repairs.

Prof. Ron Aminzade was awarded the Minnesota Campus Compact Presidents' Civic Engagement Steward Award. This award is for faculty, administration, or staff or for a group (e.g., advisory committee, task force, project team) that has significantly advanced their campus' distinctive civic mission by forming strong partnerships, supporting others' civic engagement, and working to institutionalize a culture and practice of engagement. An article co-authored by Micaela Magsamen, one of our undergraduate majors, was featured in the March edition of The Hennepin Lawyer. The article, titled "Constitutional Concerns in Defining Marriage in Minnesota," is based on a paper that Micaela wrote for Sociology of Law (SOC 4101W).
