The annual Martin Luther King, Jr., Tribute will be held on Sun. Jan. 20, 2013, 4:00-6:00 pm, Ted Mann Concert Hall. Featured performers include Vocalist Oleta Adams; Ahmad Lewis (UMN Alum); and students from Walker West Music Academy.
Dr. Cathy Jordan, Director, Extension Children Youth Family Consortium (CYFC) and community research partner, Susan Gust, offer an introductory course about Community-Based Participatory Research (CBPR), for graduate students and community practitioners interested in understanding and addressing social and health disparities. A recently published article by Prof. Christopher Bail (Sociology, UNC) was reported on the Wired.Co.UK website, "U.S. Media Helped Anti-Muslim Bodies Gain Influence, Distort Islam," Prof. Bail quoted from Prof. Penny Edgell's American Mosaic Study.
Prof. Joachim Savelsberg was honored with the 2012 Freda Adler Distinguished Scholar Award by the American Society of Criminology's International Division. The award recognizes "an international scholar who has made a significant contribution to international criminology, including international criminal justice, comparative, and transnational crime and justice research." Congratulations, Prof. Savelsberg!
