Nicole MartinRogers, a member of the 2005 graduate cohort, successfully defended her dissertation, "Individual, Family, and Community Factors that Predict Economic Self-Sufficiency: An Analysis of Minnesotans Who Receive Community Action Agency Services," on Aug. 1, 2011. Dr. MartinRogers, whose advisor is Prof. Phyllis Moen, is the first in her cohort to obtain her degree. Nicole plans to continue in her position as Survey Research Manager at the Amherst Wilder Foundation, St. Paul. Congratulations, Nicole!

On July 18, 2011, Xi Zhu successfully defended his dissertation, "Delineating Cognitive Maps in Teams: The Structure, Antecedents, and Consequences of Transactive Memory Systems." His advisor is Prof. David Knoke. Beginning fall 2011, Dr. Zhu will be an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health Management and Policy, College of Public Health, University of Iowa, Iowa City. Congratulations, Xi!
