The Center for Holocaust & Genocide Studies and their community partners hosted, Bearing Witness 70 Years after the Liberation of Auschwitz, which included the unveiling of portraits and interviews of survivors. Congratulations to Lisa Park and David Pellow on receiving the Allan Schnaiberg Outstanding Publication Award, given by the ASA's Environment & Technology section for best book published from 2011-2013, for The Slums of Aspen: Immigrants vs. the Environment in America's Eden (NYU Press 2011).
David Pellow in his new book, Total Liberation: The Power and Promise of Animal Rights and the Radical Earth Movement, explores the frequently tense and violent relationships among humans, ecosystems, and nonhuman animal species. He reveals how radical environmental and animal rights movements challenge inequity through a vision they call "total liberation."
