I believe that leadership is a way a person is able to inspire others to follow a direction that leads to a change. Leadership can also inspire leadership in others. I think there are many different kinds of leaders such as teachers, coaches, captains, preachers, presidents, etc. They do this through emotional responses such as, if they are positive leaders, trust, compassion, stability, and hope. Leadership also has a meaning beyond personal gain which is why it is so successful and is effective for all followers.

I believe that leadership is a way a person is able to inspire others to follow a direction that leads to a change. Leadership can also inspire leadership in others. I think there are many different kinds of leaders such as teachers, coaches, captains, preachers, presidents, etc. Leadership also does not have to occur face to face. Many great leaders are able to use different mediums to inspire their followers. They do this through emotional responses such as, if they are positive leaders, trust, compassion, stability, and hope. Leadership also has a meaning beyond personal gain which is why it is so successful and is effective for all followers.

This week I added the part about having different mediums through which a leader can lead. I believe that this is important because with all of the technology we have, many of our encounters with others are no longer face to face but through this technology.

This week I decided to alter the words of leading to a specific goal to leading to a change. I changed the wording a little because leading to a goal does not necessitate change. I believe that leadership leads to change because when people come together it is because something needs to be different. Change is important for growth and I believe that leadership is the basis for growth.

This week I added the part that leadership has a meaning beyond personal gain. I really like that statement from the article "The Social Change Model of Leadership Development" by Astin, H.
This week I added the bit about how leaders are able to inspire others to be leaders. I believe that leaders know when it is time to let another take control because that person is better suited for that situation. Generating leaderships means that you are, "giving people at all levels of the organization the opportunity to lead experiments that will have it adapt to changing times" (Heifetz 64).

Again this week I am decided to keep my definition of leadership the same.
What is leadership? To me, as of now, I believe that leadership is the way a person is able to inspire others to follow a direction that leads to an accomplishment. An accomplishment is not only a concrete idea being completed like building something or winning a sporting event, but it can also be finding a new way of thinking, doing, or believing that feels right for an individual. I think there are many different kinds of leaders such as teachers, coaches, captains, preachers, presidents, etc. that are leading others to a feeling of accomplishment.

This week I believe that leadership is the way, there are many different ways, a person is able to inspire others to follow a direction that leads to a goal. This goal is not only a concrete idea being completed like building or winning something, but it can also be finding a new way of thinking, doing, or believing that feels right for an individual. I think there are many different kinds of leaders such as teachers, coaches, captains, preachers, presidents, etc. that are leading others to achieve a common goal. They do this through emotional responses such as, if they are positive leaders, trust, compassion, stability, and hope.

This week I changed my definition slightly by adding that there as many different ways of leading which we learned through Daniel Goleman's, "Leadership that Gets Results." He gave us six different leadership styles. I also changed the wording from accomplishment to goals because you are not necessarily accomplishing anything society would find productive. Finally, I added the emotional response piece because of Rath, T. & Conchie, B. "'Understanding why people follow' Strengths based leadership: Great leaders, teams, and why people follow" and their follower's four basic needs: trust, compassion, stability, and hope.
