Beginnings

"In the beginning, God..." Beginnings are huge. Some beginnings can be cataclysmic. The beginning of the world...awesome, huge, unfathomable. Some beginnings can be humble and unnoticable. The entrance of the Unthinkable One, the All-Powerful One into the world as a helpless infant in a forgotten stable was humble and very much unnoticable (but something very much awesome as well!) Such it is with this blog...a beginning of sorts...a beginning of the use of technology that has been advancing at lightspeeds that would be make even Einstein spin...a beginning of a new season of reflection and recording (though it is very hard to give up the pen and journal so easily). So as I begin to reflect on life, God, wife, children, family, friends, medicine, the poor, medical missions, theology, philosphy, bioethics, Notre Dame football, trucks, toys & toddlers, and everything else which makes up the ingredients of my life right now, enter into the blog conversation. And as the world continues on today and business booms and markets strengthen and fighting in Irag rages and starvation and deprivation in Darfur depletes and Operation Christmas Child prepares to bring hope to hundreds of thousands of forgotten children, this humble blog beginning will go unnoticed. But who knows what may become of this beginning...
