durao.jpgFabio Akcelrud Durão is Professor of Critical and Literary Theory at the Universidade Estadual de Campinas (UNICAMP), in São Paulo, Brazil. His research has been centered on the Frankfurt School, Anglo-American Modernism, and Brazilian Critical Theory. Professor Durão's books include Modernism and Coherence (2008) and American (Literary) Theory (2011). He has edited or co-edited, among others, Modernism Group Dynamics: The Politics and Poetics of Friendship (2008) and Culture Industry Today (2010). His work has appeared in Alea, Cultural Critique, Latin American Music Review, Loxias, The Brooklyn Rail and Tópicos del Seminario.

The Department of Spanish and Portuguese Studies thanks the Program in Latin American Studies at Carleton College, Northfield, MN, for the opportunity to invite Professor Durão to give a talk at the U.
