Announcing the release of volume 39 in the Hispanic Issues series: Poiesis and Modernity in the Old and New Worlds, edited by Anthony J. Cascardi and Leah Middlebrook (Vanderbilt University Press, 2012), an extraordinary collaborative volume showing a full range of creative discursive activity in the early modern period, one that stands at the confluence of two conceptions: poiesis (which embraced the broad domain of "making" in its original Greek context) and poetry. The work presented in this volume suggests "that poiesis never really disappeared, and that the "prosification" of the world has all the verity of a modern myth." I also call your attention to the striking cover illustration (La Salita by Equipo Crónica, 1979).
