Research Day

What: Everyone is welcome to attend the 3rd annual SPH Student Research Day and support the presenters. Posters will be on display from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 5, and the participating students will be present to answer questions from 12 to 1 p.m. Open to the public.

When: Monday, April 5, 10 a.m.-1 p.m.

Where: Coffman Memorial Union, Mississippi Room

4th annual "It's Global" PSA Contest

What: Create a public service announcement that is 30 seconds or less and enter the 2010 "It's Global" Public Service Announcement (PSA) contest. The top 15 PSAs will be screened and the cash prizes will be awarded on Monday, April 5, 2010

When: Monday, April, 5, 2010.

Where: Mayo Memorial Auditorium. Doors open at 5 p.m., and event will begin at 5:30 p.m.

National Public Health Week Film Festival

What: National Public Health Week Film Festival

When: April 5-9, 2010

Where: Mayo Memorial Auditorium

The School of Public Health will celebrate National Public Health Week by sponsoring its sixth annual week-long film festival. Films that highlight public health issues and topics will be screened.

April 15, 2010

The Challenge of Governing Nanobiotechnology: Reinventing Oversight for the 21st Century

What: This conference will present the findings and recommendations from an NSF-funded project on "NIRT: Evaluating Oversight Models for Active Nanostructures and Nanosystems: Learning from Past Technologies in a Societal Context."

When: April 15, 2010, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.

Where: Cowles Auditorium, Hubert H. Humphrey Center

What: SPH media producer Paul Bernhardt will lead a series of discussions designed for SPH students on using basic media production tools to craft and communicate effective public health messages and conduct cutting-edge research. Students, faculty, and staff are welcome.
